How was the treatment?

The foot baths were performed once a day. Before each foot bath, these were washed with mild soap and rinsed with warm water. The feet were submerged up to the ankles in hot water for 15 minutes. After the bath, the feet were dried with a towel, but they were not washed again.

This was done deliberately, so that the beneficial properties of green tea remained on the skin longer. They did not wash the feet of the participants in the green tea group.

What was the results?

After 12 weeks of treatment, the overall assessment of skin symptoms (redness, peeling skin and tissue softening) were significantly better in the group that used green tea compared to the group that used only water.

The cutaneous symptoms were analyzed by the same doctor at the beginning of the study and at week 12 of the treatment.

There were no adverse skin reactions reported in the green tea group, therefore, the researchers think that a higher concentration of green tea in the foot bath could improve its effectiveness and still be safe to use.

Future research with more participants could help determine if a more concentrated green tea solution could show better results or faster healing results.
